All students participate in our End of Year Concert and students work on these routines each week in class, developing their skills in the process and learning the importance of rehearsal, commitment, performance techniques and teamwork. All students are assumed attending in accordance with our enrolment terms and conditions. As a result all planning that goes into the logistics in the day have your child's attendance included.
In terms of attendance, it is very important that students do not miss any of their scheduled classes between now and concert time so they can spend their rehearsal time together to perform their routines, feel confident and look amazing. If for any reason your child will miss a number of their regular classes in Term 4, we ask that you contact Miss Steph via email to let us know in advance.

UNDERWEAR
Please make sure your child is wearing flesh coloured underwear. If students are wearing a bra please make sure it has clear straps and back. Please be aware that under stage lights, dark coloured or patterned underwear does not look good under light coloured costumes.
HAIR
Dancers will require a Slick VERY High Pony.
Ponytail should be visible if looking at student front on.
You will need to use a lot of hairspray/gel and a fine tooth comb to achieve the slick look and multiple elastics. Please also use an elastic the same colour as their hair. Please ensure Ponytail is straight.
If students are in ballet please ensure they pack bun nets and bobby pins.
Please note, for boys neat and tidy hair is all that is required. No colours or crazy hairstyles please.
MAKEUP
Stage makeup needs to be heavier than normal day makeup. Please try not to cake it on or make it look like a mask as this does not look natural on stage.
Apply make-up base. Foundation needs to be darker than what their normal shade would be. Apply pinkish brown tone blush to cheekbones.
Apply pink/brown eye shadow on lid – work from the inside corner along the lash line. You may also like to use white under the brow to highlight.
Define the eyes with black eyeliner pencil. Use along the top and bottom lash lines.
Add lots of black mascara to both top and bottom lashes.
Apply red lipstick.
Please note, boys are not required to wear makeup.
JEWELLERY AND NAIL POLISH
No Jewellery is to be worn (including earrings), please leave all jewellery at home. Also, please remove all nail polish.

SECURITY & STUDENT SAFETY
To help with student organisation and safety, all students will be put into allocated group by our staff.
As always, the safety of our dance family is our #1 priority. On concert day all students will be marked off upon arrival to the theatre by a staff member.
All backstage helpers will be issued with security passes that will be worn at all times. Only Malabar Dance Crew staff and registered helpers are permitted backstage. We are unable to run messages or food to students, so please make sure they have everything before they come backstage for rehearsal and the concert.
We do this to protect the students, please respect this policy. Please try not to bring anything valuable, especially electronic devices. Mobile phones are not to be taken backstage or in the changing areas during the concert.
Malabar Dance Crew and UNSW takes no responsibility if an item is damaged, misplaced, lost or stolen.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS
If your child has any Medical Conditions that may require attention whilst in our care or are carrying any medication with them, please notify our supervisors when you sign in so they can take medications to our first aid desk.
AFTER SHOW COLLECTION POINTS:
After the show, all kindergarten through to year 4 students will return to the stage for collection with their bag.
To assist our staff and helpers with a smooth collection process, we kindly ask that only ONE parent collects the child once they are on stage waiting with their bag.
The collecting parent will enter the stage from the stairs on the right (if facing the stage) and exit the stage via the stairs on the left (if facing the stage).
Staff will be at the entry and exit points of the stage to support traffic flow and ensure all students leave with a parent.
Year 5 & Year 6 students will be directed to a location within the theatre space which will be communicated on the day. Parents will be able to collect their child from this point.
All senior students year 7 & over will be let into the foyer after the show to find their parents.
Staff will be at the glass doors to ensure all students leave with a parent.
COSTUME HIRE POLICY
Costumes are HIRED from the studio and MUST be returned at the end of the night. All hired costumes will be taken to the venue on the concert day by Miss Steph. No students are to take home any part of their costume at any time.
Please make sure your child understands that it is important that their costume goes back in the bag labelled with their name. A fee will be charged for any costumes that are missing or damaged (most damage happens from food stains).
All costumes at Malabar Dance Crew are hired so we can keep dance affordable for our families.
The costumes we own are valued anywhere between $60-$150 per costume so this is fantastic value that we love providing our families.
Please note: As costumes are hired they MUST be returned at the end of the night for laundering and to return to storage. Please make sure you communicate this with your child.
